Overview
Season-opening Venice, Louisiana billfish tournament at Cypress Cove Marina and Leg I of the Louisiana Champions Cup; the 8th edition fished in early May 2026 after weather delays.
The Louisiana Gulf Coast Billfish Classic opens the Gulf billfish season from Cypress Cove Marina in Venice, Louisiana, with a kick-off party and registration, a boat parade start and Friday/Saturday scales, awarding blue marlin, catch-and-release, yellowfin tuna, wahoo and dolphin.
The 2026 tournament (8th annual) was originally scheduled April 27 – May 1 but shifted for weather; the organizer's recap records May 3-6, 2026 with a seven-boat fleet and about $198,000 paid out. It is Leg I of the Louisiana Champions Cup and a Gulf Grander 7 qualifier.
