Overview

Club Náutico de San Juan's 73-year-old all-release blue marlin tournament, billed as the longest consecutively running big-game tournament in the world.

The San Juan International Billfish Tournament (IBT) has been run by Club Náutico de San Juan every year since 1953 and was the first event to adopt a tag-and-release format in 1987. It is an all-billfish-release tournament fished on IGFA 30-lb line off San Juan's north coast, with sonar and non-sonar boat divisions, inboard and outboard boats welcome, and optional calcuttas; blue marlin score 300 points, white marlin 150.

The 73rd edition is set for November 17-22, 2026 with three fishing days (Nov 19-21), the 'El Morro Shoot Out' on Day 1, and an awards ceremony on Nov 21. Registration is $3,500 plus tax per boat, with $100,000+ in cash and prizes and a $50,000 special prize for the first boat to release 10 billfish.
